Tattoo Aftercare Instructions Using Second Skin

1. Application

  • The Second Skin wrap is applied immediately after finishing your tattoo.

  • This film protects your tattoo from bacteria and friction, and allows it to heal in a moist, sterile environment.

2. First 5 days

  • Leave the second skin on for up to 5 days.

  • It’s normal to see plasma, ink, and blood pooling under the film — this is part of the healing process.

  • If the second skin peels back to the point your tattoo becomes exposed, remove immediately.

  • If the second skin irritates your skin, remove immediately.

3. Removal

  • Wash your hands.

  • Gently peel off the Second Skin under warm running water or in the shower to loosen the adhesive.

  • Wash your tattoo gently with fragrance-free, antibacterial soap and warm water.

  • Pat dry with a clean paper towel (do not rub

  • From here, switch to traditional aftercare:

    • Lightly moisturize with Aquaphor or A&D ointment 2–3 times daily.

    • Keep the tattoo clean and avoid direct sun, pools, saunas, or submerging in water for 2–3 weeks.

Signs of Trouble

  • Allergic reaction: Red rash, swelling, or itching under the film.

  • Infection: Excessive redness, swelling, pus, or a bad smell.
